The allotment of Plus Two batches to government and aided schools is based on the demand for seats, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.

Mr. Chandy told mediapersons here on Tuesday that the batches were sanctioned with minimal financial burden on the government. There would not be any new appointments and teachers could be recruited to government schools from the teachers’ bank. Aided schools would be permitted to appoint only guest lecturers, he said.

Strength

There should be at least 40 students in each batch in the school. If they failed to get the required number of students this year, they could try next year. In the second year, these schools should have at least 50 students in the batch, he said. The Chief Minister said the government stand on the Plus Two batches had been appreciated. It was also looking into the complaints filed by certain schools regarding allotment, he said.
