Talking to media persons here on Sunday he said that the IG had taken leave for 11 days and went abroad without taking permission from the Government.
Chief Minister had taken action against the IG on the basis of an inquiry report from the Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose which said that the official had violated the service rules by going abroad without the sanction from the Government.
Mr. Balakrishnan has said that Chief Minister as head of the General Administration Department has every right to take action against officials on such matters.
The Home Minister who visited the residence of Sheela at Puthur, who was murdered there on March 23, said that the police had done a commendable job by arresting the accused in the case within a couple of days of the incident.
Two of the accused are in jail and an inquiry is progressing to get them maximum punishment.
Answering a question on the custodial death of the first accused Sampath in this case, the Home Minister said that an inquiry is going on in the matter and the law will take its course.
Later inaugurating the K.C. Kunju Memorial building, the new local committee office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), at Erimayur near Palakkad, the Home Minister said that the law and order situation in the State is satisfactory and far better compared to some other States.
He said that the State is on the path of development and the various schemes implemented by the Government helped the people at large.
One example of it was the distribution of rice at Rs.2 per kg. This has helped 35 lakh families in the State, he said.
The Minister said that the government is planning to give pension to all workers of the traditional industries in the State.
He has accused the Central government of not taking effective steps to put down the Maoist attack in different parts of the country.
