Children's Day stamp released

Chief Postmaster General, Kerala Postal Circle, Shoba Koshy released the Children's Day stamp issued by the Postal Department here on Friday.

Ms. Koshy released the stamp at a function held at the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare auditorium by handing over the release album to Mayor K. Chandrika. The Postal Department conducts a stamp design contest for school students up to class XII annually in three categories.

The best designs is released as Children's Day stamp. A contest was held in connection with the World Philatelic Exhibition-2011 on the theme ‘Tiger' on October 12 last. Ashik Purushotham, a class VIII student of Model Technical HSS, Kaloor, won the first position. His design was one among the two stamps released on Friday.

This year's competition will be held at all Postal Divisional headquarters on the subject ‘Design a stamp' on November 26. Details can be had from the divisional headquarters, an official release said.
