Chandy to lay stone for medical college

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will lay the foundation stone for the long-cherished government medical college in Kasaragod on August 31.

The formal work on the first government medical college in the district, proposed at Ukkinadkka, near Badiadkka, will commence on August 31, N. A. Nellikkunnu, MLA, told The Hindu on Tuesday.

Mr. Chandy would lay the foundation stone at Ukkinadkka at 10 a.m. Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar and Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, besides P. Karunakaran, MP, MLAs from the district, and senior officials, would attend the function, he said.

Mr. Chandy would stay back here after his mass public contact programme in the district on August 30, he said.

Around 500 acres has been identified for the medical college.
