: Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate a people’s gathering to be organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC) here on June 14 in protest against attacks on Congress workers and offices allegedly by Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers.

A press release issued by the DCC here on Saturday said Mr. Chandy would inaugurate the meeting at the Stadium Corner at 10 a.m. on June 14. The victims of political violence and their family members would participate in the meeting, DCC president K. Surendran said.

He said the police were remaining mute spectators instead of acting against perpetrators of violence. — Special Correspondent
