Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will convene an all-party meeting this evening to discuss Maoist threat to the State.

The meeting, to be attended by top police officials besides leaders of political parties, would discuss measures needed to address the threat. Movements of Maoists had been reported from forest areas in North Kerala. So far, the government has not taken any strong action against Maoist presence in the forests except conducting searches when local people see people suspected to be Maoists.

The meeting will also discuss regulating agitations before the Secretariat in view of the court verdict against disrupting traffic and movement of people. A proposal to fix a venue for the agitations away from the Secretariat has been mooted.
