“We will take strong action against terrorists [being harboured in Kerala]. If anyone has helped them, they will not get protection,” Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Tuesday.
He said this in response to a question at a press conference about BJP leader Narendra Modi terming Kerala ‘a nursery of terrorism.’
The Chief Minister said the police intelligence wing had been able to prevent terrorists from operating from Kerala. Cases like the one at Munnar were the ones they missed.
He said the BJP’s election manifesto professed divisive policies. It opposed secularism and proposed construction of a Ram temple, introduction of a uniform civil code and abolition of special status to Kashmir. The Indian people would defeat the move to undermine the basic precepts of Indian democracy such as secularism and tolerance.
Mr. Chandy said the UDF was confident of victory in the elections. The people would vote against the politics of violence of the CPI(M).
The poll results would be an assessment of the performance of the UDF government also.
However, the Opposition had not concurred with his view, he said.
