The State government will convene a conference of the Revenue and Forest officials on November 7 to address the complaints of participants of Chengara agitation who have been allotted land in Idukki district.

Many of the agitators, who were given land in Idukki district, had not taken possession of the allotted land saying the land was not habitable. They were demanding alternate land in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Thiruvananthapuram districts.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who held discussions with representatives of the agitators and officials here on Tuesday said the complaints would be examined.

Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, who was also present, said after the meeting that the demands of the agitators would be considered. The government policy was to resume land held unauthorisedly and distribute that to the landless.
