Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has ordered an inquiry into the report that the Special Branch of the State police was snooping on the e-mails of many Muslims including Indian Union Muslim League leaders and journalists.

A Malayalam weekly and newspaper had reported that the Special Branch had collected login details of many Muslims, including Muslim League leader and former Member of Parliament P.V. Abdul Wahab, from service providers and was snooping on their e-mails through the high-tech crime inquiry cell at the police headquarters.

An official release said here on Monday that the Chief Minister had asked Additional Director-General of Police T. P. Senkumar (Intelligence) to urgently inquire into the matter.
