Chief Minister Oommen Chandy left for Idukki on Tuesday to visit the areas hit by natural calamities in the district.

He would land at Neriamangalam and proceed to interior areas including Cheeyappara by road. Chief Secretary E. K. Bharat Bhushan is accompanying him.

The National Disaster Response Force has begun search for bodies at Cheeyappara where a landslip had occurred on Monday. Four bodies have been recovered earlier. A few vehicles are under rubble which is being cleared.

Meanwhile, traffic snags has caused a jam at Kulamavu near Idukki. The government has advised tourists and others from going to the high ranges as many of the roads are not motorable. It is still raining in various parts of the district.
