Chandy convenes meet on metro works

A meeting has been convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday at Thiruvananthapuram to review the progress of the Kochi Metro Rail project.

The meeting is expected to take decision on certain key issues, particularly those relating to land acquisition, for ensuring the timely completion of the project, said an official release. Certain issues relating to land acquisition need to be settled early, particularly at the Apollo Tyres location at Kalamassery, land and buildings in Aluva municipality as well as land requirements at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium premises. The meeting is also expected to take a view regarding the early promulgation of the Kerala Land Acquisition Rules, said a press release. The development of Vyttila-Petta Road and other city development projects, including the second phase of the preparatory works proposed by the Kochi Metro Rail project like improvement of the Thammanam-Pullepady Road and a few other road development works would also be included in the discussions.

Apart from the Chief Minister, Minister for Power and Railways Aryadan Mohammed; Finance Minister K.M. Mani; Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash; Public Works Minister Ebrahim Kunju; Urban Development Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali; DMRC Principal Advisor E.Sreedharan; KMRL Managing Director Elias George; GCDA Chairman N. Venugopal; Land Revenue Commissioner M.C. Mohandas; other senior officers from all department concerned and KMRL and DMRC officials will participate in the meeting.
