Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media here on Wednesday that he was satisfied with the police investigation into the murder of RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. He said 20 persons got acquitted in the case because the police did not present false witnesses. The only witnesses happened to be CPI (M) men who turned hostile during examination. The government would appeal, if needed. There had been no failings in the investigation into the murder.
On his former gunman Salim Raj being apprehended recently on an abduction charge, Mr. Chandy said that any matter would have to be examined legally. “No protection was offered to him (Salim Raj).” Action would be taken against whoever was behind the solar panel and other scams.
He parried questions on the proposal to submit Sreedharan Nair, one of the complainants in a solar panel-related case, to lie-detector test and on charge sheet still not being filed in the case. “Legal action proceedings will take its course,” he said.
