The Chandanakkudom celebrations were held with traditional gaiety at Erumeli on Saturday.

The procession led by three caparisoned elephants was flagged off by Justice T.R. Ramachandran by 8 p.m. from Petta Junction. Erumeli Mahallu Muslim Jamaat president P.H. Abdul Salam presided over the function. Government Chief Whip P.C. George, Devaswom Commissioner P. Venugopal, Fr. Agnel, grama panchayat president Anitha Santhosh, district police chief M.P. Dinesh and others spoke. The Chandanakkudom marks the beginning of the end of Sabarimala pilgrimage season at Erumeli.
