The birth centenary of renowned Chakyarkoothu exponent P.N. Narayana Chakyar was celebrated at his native village of Kaviyur on Wednesday.

Actor Suresh Gopi inaugurated the public function held under the auspices of the Citizens’ Forum and the Mararji Janaseva Charitable Society at the Mahadevar Temple grounds at Kaviyur.

Yogakshema Sabha State president Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri and Fr. Thomas Mathew, vicar of the Sleeba Orthodox Church at Kaviyur, delivered the keynote address. Viswanathan Namboodiri, former Malayalam Professor at the Baselius College, Kottayam, delivered the keynote address.

Gopan Chennithala, State convener of the Bharatiya Janata Party cultural wing, inaugurated the Healthcare Charity Fund of the Mararji Janaseva Kendram on the occasion. M.D. Dineshkumar, organising committee chairman, presided over the function. Kaviyur Sivaprasad, award winning film-maker; Madhu Parumala of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam; P.S. Saji, Kerala Viswakarma Sabha State secretary; V.K. Padmakumar, Yogakshema Sabha IT Cell State convener; V.K. Padmakumar, president of the Kaviyur Anjaneya Vilasom NSS Karayogam; and T.P. Rajan Pillai of the Veerasaiva Sabha also addressed the function.

Kalamadalam Ravikumar and Kalamandalam Vineesh performed Iratta-Thayambaka on the Mizhavu, on the occasion.
