Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik has assured all help to set up an Ayurveda university at Kottakkal.

Speaking after inaugurating a drug standardisation laboratory at the Arya Vaidya Sala’s Centre for Medicinal Plants Research (CMPR) at Kottakkal, near here, on Friday, Mr. Naik said he would do his best for the realisation of the university and also for making CMPR a national centre for research.

The Union Minister’s assurance came in the wake of a demand raised by E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP. Mr. Naik said the government was going ahead with a proposal to lift Ayurveda to a higher echelon by making it an essential component in healthcare at the national-level.

Presiding over the function, Mr. Basheer sought Mr. Naik’s attention to the need for the university at Kottakkal.

He said the new generation was not aware of the real values of traditional medicine.

The new drug standardisation laboratory is the latest in a series of quality research components set up by the CMPR as part of achieving the status as a national centre of excellence.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive committee member Sobha Surendran, Kottakkal municipal chairperson T.V. Sulaikhabi, and BJP district president K. Narayanan offered felicitations.

Arya Vaidya Sala managing trustee and chief physician P.K. Warrier presented mementoes to the guests. K.V. Rajagopalan, physician, recited the prayer. Arya Vaidya Sala general manager K.S. Money welcomed the gathering.

CMPR project director Indira Balachandran proposed a vote of thanks.
