Centre plans to set up cashew board

The Centre was considering proposals to set up a Cashew Board and restructuring of Coconut Development Board, Union Minister of state for Argricuture K. V. Thomas has said.

The government was planning a massive cashew plantation drive, Thomas said after a meeting of Kerala Karshaka (farmers) Congress here on Tuesday.

The Coconut Development Board would be restructured on the lines of Rubber Board, he said.

The minister said the projected growth in agriculture sector was put at four per cent during the current fiscal.
