Central Travancore in festive mood of Christmas

With two days left for the Christmas, the Central Travancore is in a festive mood.

Major towns and villages are light up with different patterns of stars in myriad colours, chains of glittering LED lamps and other decorative pieces, welcoming the Christmas.

Churches, parishes and Christian households have prepared a variety of cribs at their premises.

Carol groups

Carol groups of churches as well as arts and sports clubs in the region have started their annual visit to the local households, enthralling people with their chorus singing in the evenings.

Churches have drawn up schedules for special prayers and joint Christmas celebrations in connection with the annual festival.

Ecumenical Association

The Elanthoor Ecumenical Association is will be organizing a joint Christmas celebrations at Karoor St Peter’s Church premises on Sunday afternoon.

Members of as many as 21 parishes attached to the Malankara Catholic Church, Malankara Ortodox Church, Church of South India and Mar Thoma Church will take part in the Christmas rally and meet, according to the organisers.

The rally will begin from the Government Lower Primary School ground at Nellikkala at 2.30 pm to culminate at the St Peter’s Church grounds at Karoor near Elanthoor.

The Ecumenical Association president, K.T.Mathewkutty, will preside over the meeting to be held at the church grounds, later. Rev Peter Thomas Ramban of Pathanapuram Diara will deliver the Christmas message on the occasion, said Fr Benny Narakathinal, association secretary.

In Adoor

The joint Christmas celebrations would be held at the Central Junction in Adoor town at 4.30 pm on Sunday.

Zacharias Mar Aprem, Metropolitan of the Kadambanad diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church, will inaugurate the celebrations and Fr John Areeckal, celebrations committee chairman, will preside over the inaugural function.

Blessie, cine director, will deliver the Christmas message. Chittayam Gopakumar, MLA and Oommen Thomas, municipal chairman, will also address the meet.

Police carol service

Police personnel attached to Kerala Armed Police, Battalion-III at Adoor too have conducted house visits as part of a unique carol service, singing chorus songs in and around Vadakadathukavu on Wednesday and Thursday.

The police carol groups have been visiting the local households between 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm.

The 81st Christmas celebrations at Omalloor near here will be held on Sunday afternoon.
