The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday conducted a raid on the ancestral house of P.K. Fayas, a key accused in the gold smuggling case.

A four-member team from the Kochi unit reached the house, Thondantavida House, at East Palloor near here by afternoon.

The officials conducted a search of the house for an hour. The younger brother of Fayas and his uncle were present. The CBI officials did not give any details of the raid.

A team from the Customs Preventive Commissionerate, Kochi, and from the Customs offices in Kannur, Kozhikode, and Thalassery raided the houses and business firm of Ashraf, a suspect in the case and an ally of Fayas, on Wednesday. — A Correspondent
