Mon. Youhanon Kochuthundil Ramban and Mon. Geevarghese Kalayil Ramban were on Thursday consecrated as Bishops Geevarghese Mar Makarios and Youhanon Mar Theodoseus of the Syro-Malankara Church during a holy Mass celebrated at a specially prepared sanctuary at Mar Ivanios Nagar (Green Valley Convention Centre) at Adoor.
The ceremony was held on the concluding day of the 87th anniversary of the Reunion of the Syro-Malankara Church with the Catholic Church. Cardinal Mar Baselius Cleemis Catholicos led the service.
The Bishops-designate, accompanied by Syrian Patriarch of Antioch Ignatius Yousuf Younan, Vatican Ambassador to India Archbishop Giambattista Diquattro, Cardinal Mar Baselius Cleemis Catholicos, Archbishop Thomas Mar Koorilos, and other bishops of the Church, were accorded a ceremonial reception on their arrival at the venue.
A public meeting to felicitate the newly consecrated Bishops was also held later.
The Cardinal presided over the meeting.
The ceremonial Pontifical High Mass was the highlight of the three-day Reunion meet.
