Cardinal Alencherry installs holy relics of St. Thomas

Hundreds of faithful attended the ceremonial installation of the sacred relics of St. Thomas, the Apostle, at the St Thomas Pilgrim Centre attached to the Changanacherry Archdiocese of the Catholic Church at Niranom-Kadapra near Thiruvalla on Sunday.

Cardinal Mar George Alencherry led the installation ceremony and Archbishop Mar Joseph Perunthottom was the co-celebrant.

The relics brought from Ortona in Italy was taken to the pilgrim centre in a ceremonial procession led by the Cardinal and the Archbishop.

Addressing the congregation, later, the Cardinal called upon the faithful to uphold the tradition of strong faith transferred to them through St Thomas the Apostle.

Mon. Joseph Mundakathil, Vicar-General, assisted the Cardinal and the Archbishop at the installation ceremony.
