The carcass of a forty year old wild tusker was found on the bank of Kalindy River adjacent to a private paddy field at Panavally near Mananthavadi under the Thirunelly forest station limit of the North Wayanad Forest division in the district on Sunday morning.

Each tusks of the elephant measured 1.38 metre length and 35 centimetre perimeter on the centre of it, a forest official said.

Dr. Arun Zachariah , Forest Veterinary surgeon had done the post mortem. The forest officials said more details would only available after the test results at Regional Chemical Laboratory Kozhikode.
