May 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

As many as nine companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed in the district to ensure peaceful polling. While 650 members have already reached the district, route marches have commenced at various centres. Four security personnel each will be deployed at polling stations identified as ‘problem-prone’.

Interestingly, the district will have two women polling stations in each constituency, according to the District Electoral Officer. All officials, right from Presiding Officer to police personnel on duty, will be women in the said stations. Men will also be exercising franchise at women polling stations.

There will be 45 model polling stations in the district. Five polling stations in each constituency have been selected as model stations.

Besides 45 model stations, district to have 2 women polling stations in each constituency
