Candidates who arrived in Kasaragod to appear for Multi Tasking Assistants recruitment test at the Central University of Kerala were put to hardship due to postponement of the test.

The Central University of Kerala (CUK)’s deferment of the Multi Tasking Assistants (MTA) recruitment test, scheduled for Sunday, gave candidates a rude shock as many, including women, had reached the district well in advance.

Some 100 candidates who reached Chinmaya Vidyalaya here, the venue, at 10 a.m., were told that the test had been deferred as per a directive of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. A communication from the Ministry, dated December 23, stated that the recruitment test to fill up various posts, were being deferred as the tenure of the Vice-Chancellors of the 12 new Central universities in the country were expiring in March, sources said.

University sources said the deferment had been notified through the print and electronic media. The same had been posted on the CUK website as well, official sources said. Many candidates criticised the Ministry’s decision to defer the test at short notice.
