Cancer awareness programme held

March 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - KATTAPPANA:

Only a population-based cancer registry could confirm if there was an area-wise increase in cancer-related cases or not, said R. Jayakrishnan, Assistant Professor, Community Oncology Division, Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram, on Sunday. Speaking at a cancer awareness campaign at Kanchiyar near here, he said a study could reveal the total number of cancer cases in an area and it would be possible to go into the reasons for recurrence of such cases. An official of the Community Health Centre, Kanchiyar, said services of the Kudumbasree Mission and Asha workers would be sought to set up a cancer registry.
