: Campaigning for the Assembly elections concluded peacefully in the district on Saturday.
Electioneering reached a feverish pitch during the final hours. Candidates went on final whistle-stop tours across the three-tier local bodies. Rallies, road shows, street plays and processions were taken out by political parties in different parts of Kalpetta town.
Similar rallies were conducted in other parts of the district too.
“All arrangements are in place for the Assembly polls,” District Collector and District Election Officer Kesavendrakumar told The Hindu . A total of 2,952 officials, including 30 per cent of officials as reserve, had been appointed for poll duty in the district, he said. Apart from the observer of the Election Commission, 31 micro-observers and 55 sectoral officers have been appointed in the district. Close to 95 per cent of voters’ slip had been issued to the voters and the remaining slips would be distributed on Monday.
There will be 470 booths in the district, of which 25 booths were identified as critical and 38 as sensitive.
