The Judicial First Class Magistrate court at Maradu here on Thursday sent Cronin Alexander Baby, accused of abetting the suicide of a 18-year-old CA student in Kochi, to police custody till March 24.

Cronin was sent to police custody based on an application submitted by the Crime Branch team that was probing the case.

In its application, the sleuths submitted that they would have to take Cronin to Chhattisgarh, where the accused had been working with a private firm.

As part of the investigation, Crime Branch sleuths led by Dy.SP K.A. Sasidharan on Thursday collected the statements of Sailamma, mother of Mishel, and other relatives on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Kochi City police, which probed the case earlier, collected CCTV visuals of the deceased heading to the Goshree bridge. The visuals, collected from two apartment complexes near the High Court, spotted a girl resembling Mishel moving towards the bridge around 7 p.m.

‘‘Though the visuals lacked clarity, we could identify Mishel from the dress she had worn,’’ said a senior officer. According to the police, Mishel was heading to the Goshree bridge after paying a visit to the St. Antony's Novena Church.
