C P Roy, ousted chairman of Mullaperiyar Samara Samithy, has submitted his suggestions for finding a lasting solution to the Mullaperiyar issue, to Justice (Rtd.) K T Thomas , member of the Empowered Committee on Mullaperiyar.

Later speaking to media persons here, Mr Roy said his suggestion for construction of a new tunnel at 50 ft height would enable Tamil Nadu to drain water continuously. The present tunnel is at 104 ft height.

This would also help to bring down the fixed reservoir level (FRL) from the present 136 to 100 ft., he said. Mr Roy reiterated his stand against the construction of a new dam.
