Bus accident: solatium for next of kin of victims

The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to provide a solatium of Rs. 3 lakh to the next of kin of each of the dead in the bus accident near Kottayam. Rs. 5 lakh will be provided to the family of Satheesan who collapsed and died while carrying out rescue work on Tuesday.

The Cabinet also decided to provide Rs. 1 lakh each to Kabeer and Soorya who were injured during the rescue efforts. Those injured in the accident would be given assistance depending on the gravity of the injury.

The Cabinet asked the Additional Chief Secretary P. Prabhakaran to enquire into the accident.
