The budget allocation of Rs.32 crore has given hope for the fast completion of the Government Cyber Park under construction at Nellikkode in the district. The amount will mainly be utilised for the completion of a building being constructed in the first phase for housing IT companies.

Tenders will be floated for the construction of the IT Building next month. According to officials, the construction work will begin in May. They also hope to complete the ongoing construction of the common facility centre within three months.

H. Pradeep, Project Manager (technical) of Government Cyber Park, said told The Hindu here on Monday that as per the estimate, a fund of Rs.35 crore was necessary for the realisation of the IT Building coming up in the 43-acre project site, which could be mobilised through the budget allocation.

Earlier, the State government had allocated Rs.21 crore for the construction of roads in the project site. As a part of initial infrastructure development, facilities such as a water treatment plant, water supply and distribution system, food courts, utility station, 110 KV substation, waste-treatment plant, and a disposal system also should be constructed in the area.

According to Mr. Pradeep, the IT companies would be able to start full-fledged operation in the park with the completion of the four-lakh sq ft IT Building. “Then we would be able to generate a total of 4,000 employment opportunities”, he said.

Within a five-year term, all the major developmental works of the park would be completed. Officials said an additional Rs.200 crore would be needed during this term to complete the work. Additional land for the park expansion should be indentified in later stages, they added.
