BSNL to open 30 rural customer service centres in Pathanamthitta

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limtied (BSNL) will open 30 rural customer service centres in Pathanamthitta district in October, according to General Manager, C.Sasidharan.

Addressing the presspersons at Thiruvalla on Wednesday, the BSNL General Manager said the proposed rural customer service centres has been planned in connection with the ninth anniversary of the company

and all of them would be linked with the existing CSCs in different parts of the district, he added.

Mr Sasidharan said BSNL completed a retail survey in the district as part of a project to expand its retail network. He said the company has decided to open 1000 BSNL shoppe in the district this year itself.

BSNL products would be sold at attractive discounts at these shoppe, he said.

BNSL Bhavan

The company has constructed a modern multi-storey office complex, BSNL Bhavan, in the heart of Thirivalla. Prof P.J.Kurien, Rajya Sabha member, will inaugurate the BSNL Bhavan on Thursday afternoon. Mr Anto Antony, MP, will preside over the inaugural ceremony.

Mr Sasidharan said the five-storey BSNL office complex in a total plinth area of 40,000 sq ft has been constructed at a cost of Rs 3.52 crore. The customer service centre will be opened on the first floor

and the Thiruvalla divisional office on the second floor. The general manager’s office will be on the third floor and a modern conference hall has been set up on the fourth floor.

BSNL Mela

He said a two-day BSNL Mela will also be organised at the BSNL Bhavan on Thursday and Friday as part of the dedication ceremony. All BSNL products will be sold at the Mela at special discount rates, he added.

Broadband, Wimax

Mr Sasidharan said Broadband connection has been made on demand at all telephone exchanges in the district and customers can contact over phone (9446411411) for further details.

He said BSNL would start Wimax system for providing broadband

connection in 48 places where cable network was unavailable.

BSNL would commission 100 more base transmission stations in the district, making the total number of BTS 265 this year itself.

The company would also launch 3G mobile service by December, Mr Sasidharan said.

Mr Thomas Varghese, Assistant General Manager, Ms T.J.Annamma, Deputy General Manager, were also present.
