Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched an attractive new plan titled “Kerala Plan” for its prepaid customers. The plan at ₹446 offers unlimited calls to any network across the country with 1 GB data per day for 84 days. The plan has 180 days validity. Existing prepaid customers can activate the plan by sending sms PLAN KERALA to 123.
At a press conference here on Friday, BSNL also announced international roaming facility for prepaid customers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The facility, extended in association with Etisalat Telecom, will be beneficial to large number of expatriates in Kerala.
The telecom major has introduced a low cost 4G phone in association with Micromax. The phone to be sold at ₹2,200, comes with a bundled plan of ₹97. Subscribers will be offered unlimited calls and data for 28 days.
Expansion of the existing mobile networks is also planned with 855 2G Base Transceiver Station (BTS), 1,083 3G BTS and 662 4G BTS set to be completed by March 2018.
The BSNL has bagged the State government’s tender for installing 2,266 Wifi hotspots across Kerala. The project is planned to be completed in seven months. Through these hotspots, up to 300 Mbs of data will be available for free to individuals.
Installation charges have been waived off for new landline and broadband connections. All broadband plans with fixed monthly charge of ₹675 and above will have a minimum speed of 10 Mbps and plans below that will have a minimum speed of 8 Mbps from November 1, subject to technical feasibility.
As part of the annual landline plans, rural customers can subscribe to the ₹1,200 plan, whereas urban customers can opt for ₹1,500 plan. Unlimited free calling facility is available in both the plans on Sundays and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays.
