Brethren comes calling: Elephant Viswanathan that ran amok and fell into a marsh being rescued by another pachyderm Vinod at Karappuzha, near kottayam, on Saturday.

Viswanathan was in a mischief mode, but it soon turned serious when he fell into a marsh.

Viswanathan, the elephant owned by a family in the town, just ran amok when he was taken out from the place it was sheltered at Karapuzha on the outskirts of the town. He was handled by its second mahout. The mahout and a few others were trying to control him with little success. He started running towards the Parakkulam area and straightaway went to a marshy patch nearby. As the mischief turned serious, another pachyderm, Vinod, also owned by Viswanathan’s owners, was brought in to rescue Viswanathan.

The naughty animal was tied on his neck with a rope and Vinod pulled him out of the marsh, mahouts giving a helping hand.
