Brennan college leads in arts fete

: Government Brennan College, Dharmadom, maintained its lead on the third day of the Kannur University Kalotsavam on Friday.

The keenly contested on-stage events in the arts festival, being held at the Nehru Arts & Science (NAS) College, Kanhangad, began on Friday.

Off-stage events

Brennan College, which stood first by scoring 116 points in the off-stage ‘Sahityotsavam’ and ‘Chithrotsavam’ events that concluded on Thursday, continued to dominate the results on the third day by scoring 132 points.

Hosts NAS College with 102 points is in the second position closely followed by Government College, Kasaragod, with 100 points.

As many as 4,000 students from 150 colleges are taking part in 120 events at the festival.

On-stage events

In the on-stage events, NAS College with 26 points topped in table followed by Government College, Kasaragod (18), Nirmalagiri College, Koothuparamba, previous year overall champion Payyanur College, Payyanur, and Brennan College, with 16 points each shared the third spot.

In the off-stage events, Sir Sayed College, Taliparamba, emerged runners-up scoring 85 points, way behind Brennan College that scored 116 points.

Government College, Kasaragod, with 82 points stood in third place.

Hosts NAS College had to contend with fourth position garnering 76 points.

Elocution (English) : R. Anju, Nirmalagiri College, Koothuparamba.

Elocution (Hindi) : Sudheesh Mohn, Nirmalagiri College.

Elocution (Kannada) : P.S. Soumya, Govindapai Memorial College, Manjeshwaram.

Elocution (Malayalam) : N. Sinju Kumar, Government Brennen College.

Ghazal : M.P. Ardra, C.P. Pranav, Payyanur College.

Classical music (female) : Arya Dayal, Government Brennan College.
