Boys swept the top 10 ranks in this year's medical entrance examination, the results of which was announced here on Thursday by Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb. The lone girl among the first 10 ranks is first rank-holder Shilpa M. Paul from Kothamangalam.

The second rank went to P. Vishnu Prasad from Kozhikode and the third to T. Azad from Kannur.

In the Scheduled Caste category, the top rank went to Devu Dilip from Thiruvananthapuram and the second rank to P. Jithin from Malappuram. In the Scheduled Tribe category, the first rank went to S. Akash from Thodupuzha and the second rank to Manu Dius Kandachamkulam from Thiruvananthapuram.

Six out of the top 10 rank-holders had done their Plus Two in the Kerala higher secondary stream. Among the toppers, only Vishnu Prasad completed his Plus Two in 2012. The other toppers completed their higher secondary in 2011.

Engineering scores

Of the 1,06,071 candidates who wrote the engineering entrance examinations, 77,510 have qualified. Among them, 37,382 are girls. The final engineering rank list — prepared after normalising the scores of candidates across 30-odd examination boards and combining the Plus Two scores and the entrance examination scores on a 50:50 basis — would be published in the last week of June.

Course-college options for engineering and medical courses will be invited beginning June 14. After the final engineering rank list is published, there will be a trial allotment and the first actual allotments will be done on July 3.
