A 15-year-old bicyclist was killed in a road accident at Valiyannur, near here, on Wednesday. The police identified the victim as Muhammad Tayyib, class IX student at C.H. Memorial Higher Secondary School at Varam.

The accident occurred at 9 a.m.when a rope — used to tie luggage — atop a Bangalore-bound private bus snapped and accidentally fell on the cyclist. Tangled by the rope, the boy was dragged for nearly half-a-kilometre. The driver and passengers of the bus came to know of the accident only when the bus was stopped by other motorists.
