The body of a 45-year-old tribal woman was found on the bank of the Kodumgarapallam river near Anakatti on Monday.

The police suspect it to be a case of murder after rape. The police have identified the body, believed to be one day old. The woman hailed from a tribal hamlet in Attappady and she was working in a brick kiln in Tamil Nadu. She was mother of four children.

The body was sent to the Thrissur medical college on Tuesday for post-mortem, the sub-inspector of the Sholayur police station said.
