Body of student found in Alappuzha

The body of an 18-year-old girl was found hanging on the terrace of a convent at Aroor here on Monday.

The girl, a Plus One student of a school in the same region, hails from Karnataka and is suspected to have committed suicide. According to the police, the room-mate of the girl had seen her at 4.30 a.m. on

Monday before she left for her prayers. However, when the girl was not seen during prayers and in the study room later, the roommate became suspicious and alerted the convent authorities.

The body of the girl was found later, hanging from a shawl tied to the frame of the roofing sheet atop the terrace.

According to Aroor Sub Inspector Shashidharan Nair, the post-mortem would be conducted only on Tuesday once the girl’s relatives arrived from Karnataka. The body meanwhile has been shifted to a morgue.
