The body of John Philip who was killed in Oman allegedly by Omani nationals after being abducted last Friday is expected to reach here by Sunday, his brother Jacob Philip has said.
“A cousin is in Oman and he is following up the formalities,” said Mr. Philip on Thursday. “Since Friday is a holiday there, there will be some delay and we expect the body to be released on Saturday evening or Sunday.” Reports reaching here said six Omani nationals had been arrested. Sources quoting media said the Royal Oman Police had confirmed the arrests.
Working there for 14 years
John Philip of Cheruvilakathu House, Manarcadu, had been working in Oman for nearly 14 years. For the past four years, he had been working as a petrol station attendant at Idri in Oman. He last spoke to his family back home at 9.30 p.m. on Friday.
His colleagues who arrived on Saturday found him missing. The CCTV camera and its hard disk were missing and there were blood marks on the walls of his office. The day’s collection was also missing.
On Wednesday, the police found his body at Masrooq, nearly 70 km from Ibri.
John Philip is survived by his wife and two children.
