The body of Krishnasagar Miseal (30), a resident of Gollaveedhi in Bheemunipatnam of Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, was fished out by the police here after local fishermen alerted them on Wednesday morning. The body of his wife Eilsitti Nagamani (26) was fished out on Tuesday itself.

The couple met a watery grave in the Punnamada lake while they were cruising on a ‘shikkara’ boat on Tuesday.

Both the bodies were kept at Chertala taluk hospital. As relatives of the couple arrived at 6 p.m., post-mortem would be conducted on Thursday.

The North police here had registered a case against boat owner Lalappan of Alappuzha and driver Sajan of Nehru Trophy ward under Section 304 of the IPC that envisages punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Meanwhile, following the incident, district Collector N. Padmakumar prohibited ‘shikkara’ boats (small country boats fitted with engines) and other small boats from taking tourists for cruise in the lakes and other water bodies in the district for the next one month.

The order is as per Section 144 (1) and (2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973. District police chief Thomson Jose submitted a report to the Collector explaining the risks involved in tourists travelling by small boats. Mr. Padmakumar said special teams of the district administration and the police would execute the ban.
