A group of Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists have locked the office building and the gate of the rented office building of the KGS Aranmula Airport Limited at Ayyankovil junction in Aranmula, after sending out the employees there, on Monday.

The BJP-BJYM protesters staged a march to the KGS company office when it was opened after a gap of two weeks in the wake of the ongoing public agitation against the airport project on Monday forenoon.

The protesters gate-crashed into the rented building of the private company and breaking the police cordon barged into the office.

The agitated party workers led BJP district president, V.N.Unni, has locked the office room and gate.

The BJP-BJYM workers also staged a sit-in on the road, raising slogans against the proposed airport project.

Addressing the march, Mr Unni said the people of Aranmula would oppose tooth and nail the proposed airport project which would destroy the environment, eco system and the native culture and heritage of Aranmula.

Addressing the march, Mr Pradeep Ayroor, BJYM leader alleged that the people’s representatives and the Government have deceited the common people by declaring the three villages of Aranmula, Mallappuzahserry and Kidangannur as industrial area and by setting up the Aranmula KGS Greenfield Airport Single Window Clearance Board by the Industries department.

They said the agitation against the Government decision to extend active support to the 100 per cent private project would be intensified in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Aranmula police have registered a case against Mr Unni, Mr. Pradeep and others in connection with the incident, said Mr Vinod, Sub-Inspector.
