The middleclass sections of society who were mainly left to bear the brunt of the five-year anti-people rule of the United Democratic Front (UDF) government will definitely punish the Congress and its allies in the ensuing Assembly elections, cine actor Suresh Gopi has said. Mr. Gopi, who is the star campaigner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was launching the election campaign of BJP candidate M.T. Ramesh at Aranmula on Wednesday. He said the people of Kerala would be with the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that they would happily elect the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to power in the ensuing Assembly election.

Mr. Gopi said the common people had developed an aversion towards the UDF government marred with all sorts of scams such as solar panel, Karuna, Titanium, and bar licence. He said the BJP would soon have MLAs with strong commitment to the people.

‘‘The opponents of Mr. Modi can never change the mind of the people who have accepted and adored him as a statesman and national leader,’’ Mr. Gopi said. He said the people would punish those who had been spreading false propaganda of ‘intolerance’ against the Modi government.

He said Aranmula was the place where the BJP had started writing its political growth in the State and the party had steered a successful fight to protect the environment here. Mr .Gopi said the BJP strongly believed that there was no need for constructing an airport at Aranmula, suffocating Nature.
