The Bharatiya Janata Party will begin protests demanding that Governor Sheila Dikshit demit office. The party will also boycott the Governor.
Decisions to that effect were taken at a meeting of the party office-bearers here on Wednesday.
Briefing the media, BJP State president V. Muraleedharan said that Ms. Dikshit, who faced corruption charges, had ‘taken refuge in the Raj Bhavan.’
The party was concerned about remnants of previous regime continuing in office and using their offices to escape from the clutches of law.
Urging people to boycott the Governor, he said the party would take out a march to the Raj Bhavan on July 3. This would be followed by protests at district centres on July 7.
Mr. Muraleedharan said the office-bearers’ meeting had discussed the developmental needs of Kerala and had decided to bring urgent needs to the attention of the Centre before presentation of the Railway and Union budgets.
If needed, a BJP delegation would go to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
He said the action taken against the Headmistress of Cotton Hill School showed the political agenda of the Indian Union Muslim League. It did not behove well in a modern society, and was deplorable.
