BJP demands probe into clearance for Games

January 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:49 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Bharatiya Janata Party State president V. Muraleedharan has urged the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to conduct an inquiry into the manner in which the National Games Technical Conduct Committee inspected arrangements for the 35{+t}{+h}National Games in Kerala and confirmed the dates for the Games.

‘Behind schedule’

In a letter to IOA president N. Ramachandran, Mr. Muraleedharan said that arrangements for the Games were behind schedule.

The committee had given clearance for the Games on an assurance that preparations would be completed by January 27.

However, not even a single stadium for the Games was ready. The committee should have given fitness certificate after conducting trials.

New committee sought

He urged that the IOA should constitute a new committee to conduct an impartial inspection of the arrangements.
