Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president P.K. Krishnadas has demanded that all extremist cases in the State be probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as a political conspiracy is suspected in the planned undermining of all those cases investigated by the State police.
Mr. Krishnadas told a press conference here on Monday that both the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Congress were responsible for undermining the case despite the fact that the police had clear evidence against Soofiya Maudany and Thadiyantavide Nazir in the Kalamassery bus burning case. While the UDF government had covered up the case, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government that succeeded it had frozen it, he said, alleging conspiracy behind this.
Referring to CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan's allegation that the UDF government had torpedoed the case to save a relative of Minister of State for Railway E. Ahamed involved in the case, Mr. Krishnadas said the CPI(M) leader owed an explanation as to why the subsequent LDF government had protected the Indian Union Muslim League leader's relative. He also alleged that the CPI(M) had protected Nazir’s involvement in the Vinod murder case.
He also demanded a probe to ascertain whether any financial source was involved in the CPI(M)-PDP alliance. Human rights activists and legal experts such as V.R. Krishna Iyer who had come to the support of the PDP chairman while he was in jail should also make their stand clear, he said. The BJP would organise strong protests demanding that all terror-related cases be probed by the NIA.
