January 09, 2018 11:27 pm | Updated 11:27 pm IST - Kochi

The ongoing synod (bishops’ council meeting) of the Syro-Malabar Church appointed a five-member committee of bishops to resolve the issues related to a series sale of land belonging to the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese.

The committee with Archbishop Mathew Moolakkat as its convener will probe the sale of land and possible loss of money for the archdiocese.

Bishops Jacob Mananthodath, Thomas Chakiath, George Madathikandathil, and Antony Kariyil are the other members on the probe committee.

The committee will make its own investigations and resolve the matter at the earliest, said a statement issued by the Syro-Malabar Church spokesman Fr. Jimmy Poochakkatt.
