Solar scam prime accused Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha S. Nair were on Monday remanded in police custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here in connection with a case of defrauding a former District Medical Officer.
Five others had impleaded themselves as party in the case.
Magistrate K. Krishnakumar remanded them in police custody till August 29. The court had issued production warrant for the accused and approved the petition for custody filed by Thaliparamba Deputy Superintendent of Police K.S. Sudarsan, who is investigating the case.
Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha Nair is the first and third accused in the case. The second accused Santhosh is at large.
They had been accused of defrauding Rs.4.80 lakh from the complainants after promising to install solar panels at their houses. The accused were brought to the court at 2.30 p.m.
The accused were produced before the JFMC Thalassery on August 23 in connection with another case filed by nine medical practitioners and had been remanded in police custody till August 26.
They were interrogated and produced before the magistrate on August 25 and remanded in judicial custody till Monday.
Denied bail

The Judicial First Class Magistrate at Perinthalmanna denied bail to Saritha and Biju Radhakrishnan in a cheating case filed by an investor. The court had remanded them in judicial custody when they were produced before it last week.
Saritha and her team had approached several investors in Malappuram district, including doctors at Perinthalmanna, both directly and through franchisees.
One franchisee of Perinthalmanna had approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail following a complaint against him by a doctor from Al-Shifa Hospital.
Saritha and Biju were produced before the court at Perinthalmanna, which remanded them for two weeks.
