The State government has initiated moves to extend help to a group of Keralites who were reportedly jailed in Kuwait for violations of visa regulations and who reached New Delhi on Friday by flight after the Kuwait government deported them.
Minister for Non-Resident Keralites’ Affairs (NoRKA) K.C. Joseph told The Hindu that six persons had reached the Kerala House in New Delhi.
There were reports that there were about 25 of them and there was no information on the rest of the group.
Flight tickets
The six persons who had reached Kerala House were accommodated there and would be given flight tickets to Kerala.
“We contacted the Union government and the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait. We are in touch with Malayali associations in Kuwait as well,” Mr. Joseph said adding that the Indian Embassy in Kuwait had not informed the Kerala government about any such persons being jailed there or deported from there.
“We do not know whether the Indian Embassy in Kuwait has any information on this. They have not contacted us and there is no information on them having contacted the Union government either,” the Minister said.
