Five months after he hoisted the national flag on Independence Day at an aided higher secondary school here, courting controversy, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to unfurl the national flag at a private school, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), here on Republic Day.

The RSS chief will hoist the flag at Vyasa Vidya Peetom, operated by Bharatiya Vidya Niketan, a pro-Sangh Parivar organisation, at Kallekkad, on the outskirts of the town.

Over 1,900 students of the school and 200-odd teachers would join around 8,000 RSS activists from across the State to witness the flag hoisting.

The State government had raised objections to Mr. Bhagwat raising flag at the aided school.
