Bansal to visit Kuttanad

Union Minister for Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal will visit Kerala on Saturday for an on the spot assessment of changes proposed to the Kuttanad Package.

The Minister is visiting the State on the basis of a request made by Kerala Minister for Water Resources N. K. Premachandran during discussions in Delhi on the Package.

The Union Minister would hold discussions with Ministers, higher officials and people’s representatives on the changes sought by the State to the Package besides touring Kuttanad.

The State government wanted the Minister to visit Kuttanad and see the peculiarities of geology, cropping pattern and flood control measures and assess the changes sought by it.

Mr. Bansal will return to Delhi on January 5 after a high level meeting.
