The probe here by the Bangalore police into the preparations of the terror operatives in the State for the blasts in Bangalore last year has been completed, as the investigators collected incriminating information to prove that the suspected militants, led by Thadiyantavide Nazir, used many places here for arranging logistical support for carrying out the blasts.

The investigation team of the Bangalore police headed by Joint Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar, left here for Ernakulam in the morning with Nazir, the suspected mastermind of the terror group, and his associate and brother-in-law Shafas Shamsuddin, who had been in the custody of the Bangalore police after they were handed over to the security forces by the Bangladesh Rifles earlier this month. The duo had been brought here from Bangalore on Friday evening for collecting evidence and subjected to intense grilling here and taken to different places here to verify the information they furnished during their interrogation as regards their contacts and planning and preparations.

The investigators wound up their probe here in the early hours of Sunday and are expected to collate further clues in Ernakulam and other places to establish the involvement of the suspected Leshkar-e-Taiba-trained militants in the Bangalore blasts. Their interrogation and their escort to different places here by the Bangalore police team were done in a discreet manner to maintain the total secrecy of the investigation.

The police sources here said that the crucial information and evidence the Bangalore police had gathered from here on their interrogation of Nazir and Shafas Shamsuddin were enough to establish the involvement of Nazir and other terror operatives in executing the Bangalore blast plan. Among the places the duo had been taken to, included the residence of the youths from here, killed by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir while they were allegedly trying to cross the border to get training by the Leshkar-e-Taiba. The investigating team had also raided the house of Shafas Shamsuddin at Thayyil here on Saturday.

The investigation here is also understood to have unravelled the links of Nazir and Shafas Shamsuddin with four youths who had been picked by the police here following a disclosure by the duo during the interrogation by the Bangalore police. The police said that some of those nabbed had been involved in the preparation of explosive devices as per the instruction of Nazir. The investigators would piece together the information and the evidence they gathered after they completed their probe in other parts of the State, the police sources here said.
